From the wrong school to the right school

What was keeping Harry stuck?

When Harry came to coaching, he had recently moved to a new school that looked like the "right" choice on paper. He was highly intelligent, motivated and determined to succeed, but despite working hard, he felt increasingly unhappy.

The academic expectations were intense. He spent many lunchtimes alone and the sense of belonging he had experienced at his previous school had disappeared. He felt torn between staying because it was a good opportunity and leaving in search of an environment where he could genuinely thrive.

What did Harry discover about himself?

Rather than asking, "Which school is better?" we explored a more important question:

"What do you need in order to do your best?"

Together we explored what gave Harry energy and what drained it. He realised that happiness, belonging and feeling connected to the people around him weren't distractions from academic success; they were essential ingredients that allowed him to perform at his best.

As he gained greater clarity about his own needs and values, the decision became less about avoiding failure and more about choosing an environment where he could flourish.

What became possible because of that?

Instead of remaining stuck between two difficult options, Harry made a confident, well-considered decision to move schools.

The decision wasn't the easy option. It was the brave one.

By trusting himself rather than simply following expectations, he chose an environment that better matched both his wellbeing and his ambitions, giving him renewed confidence about the future.
